The County of Camden, New Jersey asked Holland Architects
Ltd to design a park pavilion in one of its City of Camden Parks,
Dudley Grange Park. The pavilion would be used by picnickers and provide
shelter for bands giving concerts.
In addition, the client asked for the building to be
built from plastic "lumber," a new building material made from recycled
plastic. The County was interested in environmentally conscious design
and wanted recycled materials used in the project.
The design incorporates new ideas the client wanted
to express, and becomes an object of interest in the park.
