| Here
are some preliminaries for our Boise·Holland
Architects logo. The early concept
was an adaptation of our Holland Architects
Limited logo and adding the Boise component with our current graphic
identity. Early designs evoked architecture through stacking, and
measuring motifs. We decided to simplify and focus on a joining
of the B and H. However, the contrasting thinness and thickness
in the Bodoni font proved to difficult to convey clear lettering. |
 |
| |
| Playing
with the positive and negative space, the design developed further.
Some designs began to blur the lines between the B's end, the H's
beginning. Other designs conveyed the joining of 2 separate but
equal parts. |

|
| With
a bit of "out-of-the-box" brilliance, we came to our final
design, the B and H are joined by a single entity. A single gray
field unites the B and H rather than separate squares keeping them
apart. |

| John
Holland created the original Holland Architects
Limited logo in 1996. Bodoni font is a widely popular among architects.
The strong presence is evocative of columns as well as resembles
an interior space plan. The iconic H and the modernist logo became
the basis for the Holland Architects look, and its style is still
evident in our graphic identity today. |

| Below
are some preliminaries for the A&A design. Early discussions
called for a classic style for this logo. The reflected A's was
the design chosen by the client. |
 |
| Having
decided on the signature font, we developed the design into something
more iconic. We came up with an alternative design resembling a
tree. This evoked a more natural feeling and suggested a 'family
tree' as the 2 A's are representative of the initials of the client's
children. |
|
At
the above right is the final design. The A&A logo resembles
a classic gate symbolizing the company's focus on neighborhoods
while the conjoined A's suggest union and community. |

| Below
are some of the concepts for Universal Real Estate. A bolder more
engaging design, Universal's logo took the curving U shape into
several designs. Themes included harmony, velocity, building communities,
and the planet. |
